Vendée Globe – Spirit of Hungary within 1000 miles to arrive – Audio vacation and Ship log on 5-6th February 2017

*ETA: 8th around noon. The latest radio vacation with Nándor Fa onboard Spirit of Hungary from the North-Atlantic Ocean today on 5th February. Nándor is sailing in 8th position in the 2016-2017 Vendée Globe fleet, moving at good speeds towards Les Sables d’Olonne. He is currently within 1000 miles to the finish line of the Vendée Globe single-handed non-stop round the world sailing race, on the 13th week of the race.

*ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival): it may vary based on ever changing weather conditions continuously analized by the Race Direction

Less than 350 miles from the finish line in Les Sables d’Olonne, Nandor Fa still had 35-40kts westerly winds. The skipper of Spirit of Hungary, on course for an excellent eighth place, is in regular contact with his team, his family and knows the legions of Hungarian media and friends await his presence.

Nandor Fa should cross the finish line in less than 36 hours in a north-westerly wind which should decrease tomorrow. The Hungarian skipper has managed to avoid the different very strong wind zones between the depressions.

6th February – 520nm to finish the Vendée Globe!

Positions: 18:30 UTC, 43° 42,4′ N, 014° 08,2′ W, all OK onboard!
